As the majority of the music industry is currently focused on the recently-announced Grammy Awards, there is other music-related news to take note of. It’s being reported that Nicki Minaj has officially made history on the Billboard charts courtesy of her latest single.
Nicki Minaj may be focusing on being a new wife and future mom, but she is still making music…music that is reaching the top of the charts. According to @Billboard, she is now a member of music history courtesy of her recent number one single “Tusa” with Latin artist Karol G. The song reached the number one spot after only a week of being released—but that’s not how it makes Nicki apart of history.
With “Tusa” hitting number one, Nicki is reportedly the first artist in music history to have a number one song on the Hip Hop/R&B, Pop, Dance/Electronic, Reggae, Gospel and now Latin charts. The specific chart rankings include: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot Rap Songs, Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Hot Gospel Songs, Reggae Digital Song Sales, World Digital Song Sales, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Dance Club Songs, Rhythmic Songs airplay, and Pop Songs airplay.
Additionally, “Tusa” is Nicki’s sixth entry on the Hot Latin Songs, and her second top 10 on the same chart, following the 2017 hit “Krippy Kush,” with Farruko, Bad Bunny, 21 Savage and Rvssian that peaked at the number five spot.
While many fans were disappointed that Nicki didn’t receive any nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards, they are surely pleased at this recent Billboard news.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
