After rising to fame with the musical drama ‘Footloose’, he began to take on darker roles, among them the controversial historical conspiracy legal thriller ‘JFK’ (1991), ‘A Few Good Men’ (1992), ‘Apollo 13’ (1995), ‘Mystic River’ (2003), and ‘The Woodsman’ (2004).

His other major roles include National Lampoon’s ‘Animal House’ (1978), ‘Diner’ (1982), ‘Friday the 13th’ (1980), ‘Tremors’ (1990), ‘Flatliners’ (1990), ‘Wild Things’ (1998), ‘Hollow Man’ (2000), ‘Frost/Nixon’ (2008), ‘X-Men: First Class’ (2011), ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ (2011), ‘Black Mass (2015) and Patriots Day (2016). He’s won Golden Globe and a SAG Awrd, but is considered one of the best actors to never receive an Oscar nom.

Kevin has been married to Kyra Sedgwick since 1988. They have two children, Travis Sedgwick (b. 1989) and Sosie Ruth (b. 1992).
