TSR Sports: Now for most of us, missing work means we just don’t get paid, but imagine if you had to pay your job on top of that? Well, that’s probably why Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown is pissed.
He was fined nearly $54,000 for missing time during training camp. Brown posted the letter he received on social media and wrote the following in all caps: “When your own team want to hate but there’s no stopping me now devil is a lie. Everyone got to pay this year so we clear.”
The letter that he shared was from Raiders general manager, Mike Mayock, and it indicated two specific dates in which Brown had missed practice, according to ESPN.
In the letter, Mayock also let Brown know that if he continues to miss mandatory team activities, including practices and games, the Raiders reserve the right to impose additional fines and discipline.
One of the times the letter mentions was when Brown was fined $40,000 for missing camp on August 18th. That’s apparently the day Mayock issued Brown an ultimatum saying, “It’s time for him to be all-in or all-out,OK?”
It seems like after Brown responded to the letter on social media, he kept his distance. Brown, who usually stretches on his own during the team stretch period, was not on the field during stretching today. He appeared during individual drills and after catching a pass, ran to the end zone and fired the football into the fence.
He did not speak with any media outlets later Wednesday but is scheduled to talk on Thursday.
Brown began camp this season on the non-football injury list because of frostbite on the soles of his feet after a cryotherapy mishap in France in early July. He left camp for two weeks seeking therapy for the feet, which included laser treatments.
We’ll keep you posted on any updates, Roommates.
